Frequently Asked Questions for Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG MCCB

What are the key features of the Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG MCCB?

The Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG is a 3-pole moulded case circuit breaker rated at 20A with 36kA breaking capacity. It is fitted with a thermal-magnetic release for overload and short-circuit protection and belongs to the dsine DN0 frame. It is used for protection of LT distribution circuits in industrial and commercial installations.

Why should I choose the Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG MCCB?

Choose the Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG when your circuit needs 20A protection and the prospective fault current at the point of installation is within 36kA. It gives overload and short-circuit protection in one device. Accessories for remote tripping, status indication and operation differ by frame, so confirm the accessory list for this frame in the Lauritz Knudsen catalogue.

Where is the Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG MCCB used in electrical installations?

The Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG is used as an incoming or outgoing breaker in main distribution boards (MDBs), sub-distribution boards (SDBs), motor control centers (MCCs), power control centers (PCCs) and feeder circuits, for loads up to 20A.

What accessories can be used with the Lauritz Knudsen CM97893OOC2OG MCCB?

MCCBs of this type are commonly fitted with a shunt release for remote tripping, an undervoltage release, auxiliary and alarm contacts for status signalling, a motor operator for remote switching, rotary handles for door-mounted operation, extended or spreader terminals, and padlocking devices. Availability depends on the frame size, so check the Lauritz Knudsen accessory list for the CM97893OOC2OG before ordering.

What is the difference between thermal magnetic and electronic (microprocessor) releases in MCCBs?

A thermal magnetic release uses a bimetal for overload and an electromagnet for short-circuit protection. It is simple and cost-effective for standard feeders. An electronic or microprocessor release measures current electronically and offers adjustable overload, short-circuit and, on some versions, earth fault settings. It is preferred where finer coordination between breakers is needed. Lauritz Knudsen names its microprocessor releases MTX on dsine DN breakers and iTRP on dsine DZ breakers.

How do I select the right breaking capacity for an MCCB?

Calculate the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation from the transformer kVA and percentage impedance (plus the upstream fault level), reduced by the cable impedance in between, then select an MCCB whose breaking capacity (Icu) at your system voltage (415V) is at least that value. Where supply must continue after a fault, check the service breaking capacity (Ics) too. Breaking capacity versions differ by brand and frame size, so always read the kA value for the exact model. In the Lauritz Knudsen dsine DN and DZ ranges the letter in the type designation shows the Icu at 415V AC: C = 25kA, D = 36kA, N = 50kA, S = 70kA, H = 80kA. Other Lauritz Knudsen MCCB ranges use the letters differently, so always read the kA value stated for the exact model.
